"As we grow up, we learn that the one person who isn't supposed to let you down, probably will, and the one person that you never thought would be there for you, is. You're going to have fights with your friends, you're going to lose some of your friends, you may even fall in love with one of your friends. You will eventually lose someone you love, and love someone you never thought you'd find. People are going to hate you, love you, love to hate you, and hate to love you. But the ones who mean the most to you will always be there."

50 BOOK CHALLENGE
3. Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange

Mr Darcy, Vampyre introduces a dark family curse so perfectly that the result is a delightfully thrilling, spine-chilling, breathtaking read. A dark, poignant and visionary continuation of Austen’s beloved story, full of danger, darkness and immortal love.
Elizabeth Darcy is the happiest woman alive when she steps into the carriage that is to take her on her wedding tour - until she sees the look of torment on Mr Darcy’s face and discovers that he has a deep, dark secret that nearly destroys their love, their marriage and even her very life. Darcy and the rest of his family are vampires that cannot be outside during sunrise or sunset.
Lady Catherine is at the source, having turned Georgiana into an undying friend for her vampiric daughter, Anne, and then Darcy as the perfect mate for Anne. Now Lizzy and Darcy must travel across the Continent to the Pyrenees to find a way to break the curse. But Lady Catherine won’t give up her undead without a fight…

Amanda Grange previously wrote a book called Mr. Darcy’s Diary which was pretty much Pride & Prejudice told from Darcy’s perspective.  I loved that book so when I saw this, I HAD to read it and I had high expectations.
Sadly, the book came nowhere near to them.  The entire thing fell flat and the more pivotal moments in the book were smashed into about 3 chapters and near the end of the book.  Two-thirds of the book were pretty much Lizzie and Darcy traveling around Europe and meeting Darcy’s vampire friends.
There’s a big, bad Vampire who is after Lizzie but he’s dealt with in about 3 pages and you are never told who he is, other than that he’s really powerful and an Ancient.  It was put together horribly.
The one thing I’ll give to this book is that it introduced the fact that different vampire families have different weaknesses.  As in, one Vamp family is weak against Garlic, or Silver, etc.  It’s not the general myth and all that.
Would I recommend it?  Probably not but I did enjoy some parts of the book.

#2: Demon from the Dark by Kresley Cole

The scorching tale of a demon outcast poisoned with vampire blood and the vulnerable young witch he vows to protect—even from himself.
A DANGEROUS DEMON SHE CAN’T RESIST …
Malkom Slaine: tormented by his sordid past and racked by vampiric hungers, he’s pushed to the brink by the green-eyed beauty under his guard.
A MADDENING WITCH HE ACHES TO CLAIM …
Carrow Graie: hiding her own sorrows, she lives only for the next party or prank. Until she meets a tortured warrior worth saving.
TRAPPED TOGETHER IN A SAVAGE PRISON …
In order for Malkom and Carrow to survive, he must unleash both the demon and vampire inside him. When Malkom becomes the nightmare his own people feared, will he lose the woman he craves body and soul?

10th book in the series and because I have so many books, I completely forgot who Carrow was until I looked her up in one of the other books.  Loved it.  One of my favorites.  There’s too many characters now so Kresley Cole should come out with a character dictionary book or something like that.  Yep.

#1: Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Kresley Cole

The seductive tale of a fierce werewolf prince who will stop at nothing to protect the lovely archer he covets from afar.
A DANGEROUS BEAUTY…
Lucia the Huntress: as mysterious as she is exquisite, she harbors secrets that threaten to destroy her — and those she loves.
AN UNCONTROLLABLE NEED…
Garreth MacRieve, Prince of the Lykae: the brutal Highland warrior who burns to finally claim this maddeningly sensual creature as his own.
THAT LEAD TO A PLEASURE SO WICKED….
From the shadows, Garreth has long watched over Lucia. Now, the only way to keep the proud huntress safe from harm is to convince her to accept him as her guardian. To do this, Garreth will ruthlessly exploit Lucia’s greatest weakness — her wanton desire for him.

This is the 9th book in Kresley Cole’s “Immortals After Dark” series and one of my favorites.  I would recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy, romance, and pretty much loves to read.  What sets this series apart from other romance series is that it deals with all aspects of the fantasy and paranormal — not just vampires and werewolves.  This particular series has it’s focus in Norse Mythology and the Valkyries.
Carla, after you get hooked on the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, I’ll give you this!  Hahahahaha.
